ISLAMABAD: The export of services shrank by 1.5 per cent to $1.29 billion in 1QFY19, from $1.3bn over corresponding period last year.
In 2017-18, the export of services contracted by 7pc year-on-year to $5.4bn.
Similarly, imports of services also dipped 13.84pc to $2.22bn in July-September as against $2.58bn in same period last year while it had increased 4.88pc to $10.4bn in FY18. Services whose imports declined included transportation, travel, communications, insurance, financial, computer/information and other business services.
As a result, the trade deficit fell by 26.52pc to $937.65 million in the outgoing quarter versus $1.27bn same period last year.
