WASHINGTON, June 20: The United States and the European Union on Monday jointly called on Iran to freeze uranium enrichment and reprocessing and to work with the UN atomic energy watchdog. “We remain united in our determination to see the proliferation implications of Iran’s advanced nuclear program resolved,” they said in a joint statement released by the European Union after the annual US-EU summit.

The statement also called upon North Korea to dismantle its nuclear arms and nuclear weapons making programme. “The DPRK must comply fully with its non-proliferation obligations, and dismantle its nuclear weapons in a permanent, transparent, thorough, and verifiable manner,” the statement said.—AFP
