Private education

Published November 5, 2018

MOST private schools are thriving because people have no other option if they want to provide a good education to their wards. With a few exceptions, an overwhelming number of private schools’ objective is profit. Unfortunately, the standards are not up to the mark in many of these institutions.

Education is the responsibility of the state. It is the government that should provide free and quality education. There is a lot of potential for the public school sector but it is seen as incompetent.

Government-run schools have received so much criticism that the educational efforts of the government — both provincial and federal — have become accustomed to being vilified.

The educational environment in Sindh’s government-run schools is pathetic. Despite so many assurances by the provincial government, the strides made in education are only on paper. It suits the interests of local politicians-cum feudals to keep Sindh uneducated, as uneducated people would hardly dare to question their elected representatives.
