KARACHI, June 19: A brilliant unbeaten knock of 87 by promising batsman Ali Asad carried Zone-II Whites to a surprise five-wicket victory over the fancied Zone-VI Whites in the final of the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal cricket tournament at the KCCA Stadium here the other day.

Chasing 133, Zone-II Whites struggled in reaching the target as they lost half their side in doing so thanks to Ali Asad, who struck 13 boundaries in his splendid innings that earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Earlier, Zone-VI Whites were bundled out for 132 in the 42nd over. Spinners Shahmir Khattak and Athar Hussain shared the major portion of wickets with three apiece.

Summarised scores:

ZONE-VI WHITES 132 in 41.3 overs (Waqas Haroon 25; Shahmir Khattak 3-27, Athar Hussain 3-38); ZONE-II WHITES 133-5 in 37 overs (Ali Asad 87 not out; Asif Hameed 2-45).
