KARACHI, June 19: The City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, and DCO Karachi have issued orders to all city government departments to be fully prepared to cope with any untoward situation during the coming monsoon rains.

In this regard, the Civil Defence and Fire Brigade departments, and ‘134’ helpline have been instructed to remain alert and take necessary preventive measures in the light of experiences of last year’s rains.

Senior officials of the fire brigade, health, and engineering departments, the KWSB, the KESC, SSGC, the PTCL would be available on the ‘134’ helpline to ensure rapid rescue operations in case of any emergency.

Similarly, the emergency response centre at Hawkesbay has been ordered to keep alert to cope with any untoward situation in case of high tide.

The DO, Civil Defence and Fire Brigade, Shoaib Mohammad Khan, has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the ‘134’ helpline and emergency response centre at Hawkesbay, so that safety of their life and property could be ensured.—PPI
