QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has directed the Public Health Engineering Department to utilise all available resources to resolve water issue in Gwadar.

Since assuming the office of chief minister, Jam Kamal has arrived in Gwadar twice to address the issues of people of Gwadar and Makran division.

Due to his earnest attention, water supply for the people of Pasni has been started while the CM has inaugurated a water desalination plant in Gwadar that has been supplying 200,000 gallons of water to the residents of the coastal city.

Earlier water was supplied to Gwadar through water tankers which was costing the government Rs3 billion annually.

Chief Minister Alyani has also directed the authorities concerned to expedite construction of Karwat desalination plant which would supply two million gallons of water to Gwadar.

The government of Balochistan has decided to receive water charges from hotels, business establishments and big houses on monthly basis. But the CM has directed the PHE department to spare small neighborhoods from water bills and continue supply to these through tankers free of cost.

Meanwhile Jam Kamal has directed the provincial environment secretary to immediately visit Gadani ship breaking yard and submit a report on the cleaning operation of leaked oil splashed in the sea.
