ABBOTTABAD: Baba Haider Zaman was laid to rest in his native village Dewal Manal on Thursday.

His funeral prayers were offered at Government College Ground Abbottabad in the morning and later at his native village. The political leaders including provincial assembly speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, former speaker of National Assembly Gohar Ayub Khan, former governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan, provincial ministers, MNAs, MPAs, members of local bodies from all over Hazara division, activists of Tehreek-i-Sooba Hazara, workers of different political parties, senators, officials and people from different walks of life attended his funeral in a large number.

Baba Haider Zaman was considered the voice of the people of Hazara. He fought till his last breath for the rights of poor. On his pressure, resolution for creation of Hazara province was tabled in the provincial assembly.

Owing to his efforts, major political parties included the slogan of ‘Hazara province’ in their election manifestoes.

The political observers said that the issue of Hazara province was buried with the burial of Baba Haider Zaman.

Business activities remained suspended in the city till his funeral prayers, which were offered in Abbottabad at 10am and then at 2pm in his village.

COURT: Peshawar High Court Abbottabad Circuit Bench has suspended the notice issued by tehsil municipal administration to the district bar association to vacate the District Bar Club and dismantle the building.

The members district bar association held a protest rally against the issuance of notice by the TMA, saying it created unrest among the lawyers.

Earlier, the district bar held an emergent meeting that passed a unanimous resolution, demanding withdrawal of notice and transfer of official concerned with extension of the lease period of the land allotted to barroom.

The participants of the meeting said that efforts for extension of lease were made time and again but it was not granted deliberately. They said that lawyers were using the place for healthy activities.

The senior lawyers and officer-bearers of district bar association also condemned the remarks and statements of the TMA official.
