TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 10: An additional district and sessions judge released on bail district Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) president Maulana Muhammad Awais and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Rabbani on Thursday.

They were arrested under Section 16 of the MPO about a week ago during a crackdown on religious activists.

A case was also registered against them on Nov 6 last on the charge of delivering provocative speeches against the government and the US in a public meeting held under the auspices of Pak-Afghan Defence Council.

SUBSTANDARD CONSTRUCTION: The district Nazim has taken serious notice of the complaint of use of substandard material in the construction of a science laboratory in the Government Girls High School, Kamalia.

During a surprise visit to the school on Thursday, EDO (education) Mrs Bilqees Akram told Nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq that the recently-built laboratory building was in bad condition.

The Nazim asked the officials concerned to send for laboratory test the material used in the construction and warned the contractor that he would have to reconstruct the building if the material was found substandard.

He warned them that they would be blacklisted if found using substandard material in the construction.
