Retired justice Mian Hamid Farooq, an independent adjudicator, on Monday upheld the 10-year ban on cricketer Nasir Jamshed but set aside additional bars placed on him.

In August, an anti-corruption tribunal of the Pakistan Cricket Board had handed Jamshed a 10-year cricketing ban after he was found guilty of violating several clauses of PCB's Anti Corruption Code, including spot-fixing, ensuring for betting, failing to disclose offers of money, accepting offers of bribe, consenting to corruption and encouraging other players — during the second season of the Pakistan Super League in 2017.

The tribunal had also prohibited authorities from giving him any role in management or administration of the game in future, while also instructing cricketers and stakeholders to avoid him.

The independent adjudicator today declared that the 10-year ban imposed on Jamshed was "perfectly justified" and will continue to remain intact.

The adjudicator, however, set aside the additional sanctions imposed by the tribunal.
