Russian army contingent arrives to participate in joint training exercise with Pak army

A Russian Army contingent has arrived in Pakistan to participate in a Pak-Russia Joint Training Exercise named Druzhba-III, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted on Monday.
"This is third exercise as part of Pak-Russia bilateral training cooperation," the DG ISPR wrote adding that the first exercise was held in Pakistan in 2016 and the second in Russia in 2017.
According to Radio Pakistan, the drills are expected to go on till Nov 4.
The first ever joint Pak-Russian exercise in Sept 2016 was seen as a demonstration of closer defence ties between both countries after they signed a military cooperation pact in 2014.
It boosted cooperation for promoting international security, intensification of counter terrorism efforts and arms control activities, and strengthened collaboration in various military fields.

Some analysts here think Russia is their bff now.Relationship b/w nations is based on mutual interest.With US sanctions,Russia needs potential buyers for their arms.India is better partner in that than Pakistan.Also historical ties are strengthened with India buying S400 neglecting Trump's warning.Drills don't make much impact but they might give illusion of brotherhood.

China stands with Pakistan, so does, Maldives, SriLanka, Nepal & Iran. And now Russia is a close friend as well.
Those who wanted to isolate us are now themselves isolated like never before

@Husain Countries do joint-military exercises like in past India-Pak and China-India did military exercises. It certainly signify that Russia, India, China are united to fight terrorism.

@Husain - You think Russia is drifting away from us after we just ordered $ 5 billion worth of air defence equipment? Russia is firmly on India's side my friend. They support our inclusion in the NSG as well as UN Security Council. If some excercises give you comfort, so be it. Enjoy the show.

Well said, but that was not visible two weeks back when Putin sold India S400 batteries and pledged never to sell them to us. We need to remember our role in collapsing the Soviet Union and always be aware that Russia may be collecting intelligence on our drills and army to return that very favor. Pakistan zindabad.

The Russian numbers demonstrate that its gonna be a really big joint military exercise. You sure they havent come to learn how to play cricket as there is only 11 people and 3 umpires altogether?
