KARACHI: A fine-around performance from skipper Azhar Amin helped Govt Boys Secondary School (GBSS) defeat Zeeshan Secondary School by six wicket in the latest round of matches in the PVCA/EBM Inter-school cricket tournament here the other day.

Batting first at the Eastern Star Ground, Zeeshan Secondary collapsed from 151-2 to 210 all out in 36.5 overs after opener opener Hamza Monis had blasted 92 off 81 balls with the aid of 15 fours and one six.

Azhar, who bowls seamers, claimed 2-20 while the spin trio of Habibullah (2-24), Abdul Saboor (2-24) and Faiz Ahmed (2-36) also bowled exceedingly well.

GBSS Korangi in reply, won in the 33rd over thanks to excellent batting from opener Ajmal Khan (92 off 109 balls) and man-of-the-match Azhar (unbeaten 75 off 70) who together shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 168.

Meanwhile, in another match at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Fahad Academy beat KBV-CAA School by 44 runs. Mohammad Yaqoob excelled for the winning side with a knock of 67 and five wickets.
