PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Sultan Mohammad Khan said on Tuesday the grievances of the students of the University of Peshawar would be addressed.
He stated this while speaking at the first meeting of an eight-member parliamentary committee constituted on the directives of the chief minister to look into the grievances of the UoP students following the incident in which police and students scuffled, according to a statement. The minister heads the committee.
A 15-member delegation of students comprising representatives of various students’ federations appeared before the probe body and informed it of their issues.
He said the probe body would present its recommendations to the chief minister within 15 days. He said police, home department and the concerned UoP officials would also be summoned to seek their viewpoint.
The minister assured the delegation that their grievances would be addressed on merit, and urged students to show restraint and refrain from staging protests till the committee submitted its report.
