LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission has imposed a fine of Rs150,000 on a laboratory for giving fake blood test report.

The laboratory had no qualified staff and was operating without getting licence from the PHC, said a spokesperson here on Monday.

According to details, Muhammad Amjad had submitted a complaint with the PHC, stating that he had got his blood tested from the Pearl Laboratory, Burewala, which showed him hepatitis C positive in the report. Further probe found out that the report was issued without proper tests, alleged Amjad. The probe found the complainant’s allegation true.

The commission imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the laboratory for giving a fake report and not getting licence from the PHC, Rs50,000 on its main branch in Lahore for a fake report on its letterhead and appointing unqualified staff.

In Burewala, Arsalan Lab, was fined Rs30,000 for not getting registration and licence from the PHC.
