A clash between PTI and PML-N workers broke outside the Shamsabad police station, DawnNewsTV reported, prompting New Town and Sadiqabad police station officers to arrive at the scene.

Khalid Kiani, a PTI worker who had physically attacked police officers was taken away to Sadiqabad police station by law enforcement. He is reportedly the nephew of DSP Raja Taifoor.

The situation worsened to the point where Rangers had to be called in to control it. Both groups resorted to the blame-game as things continued to heat up.

Leaders from both parties were instructed to maintain a distance of a kilometre at least between the two groups but workers from both sides refused to leave the area outside the Shamsabad police station.
