PESHAWAR: The city police have chalked out a security plan to ensure peace during the by-elections on PK-78 scheduled for next Sunday. About 2,000 cops would be deployed to ensure security in the constituency.

Elections on PK-78 were postponed following the killing of Awami National Party candidate Haroon Bilour in a suicide attack on July 10. SSP operations Peshawar Javed Iqbal said that city police had finalised a comprehensive security plan to ensure peace on the poll day. He said about 2,000 cops would be deployed on the polling day, adding about 35 polling stations had been declared most sensitive and 82 sensitive.

Mr Iqbal said 108 female police officers would also be deployed at the women polling stations and nine cops would perform duty at the most sensitive stations and seven on sensitive ones.
