BAHAWALNAGAR: A 40-year-old woman suffered burns when her relatives threw acid on her over her refusal to accept a proposal for her daughter on Sunday.

Chishtian B-Division police SHO Rao Inam said Razia Bibi was asleep at her home when her relatives threw acid on her to exact revenge for opposing the marriage of her daughter according to their desire.

The woman was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) of Chishtian from where doctors referred her to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur, because of her critical condition.

THQ Medical Superintendent Dr Anwar told Dawn that the woman had suffered 50pc burns.

KILLED: TheA-Division police are investigating the death of a youngster who died after he was tortured by unidentified men following an accident.

Azam was tortured in broad daylight after an accident on Khadimabad Road. He was shifted to the Bahawalnagar District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
