KARACHI: The murder of a young man in Gulshan-i-Iqbal a day before turned out to be an act of killing in the name of so-called honour, police said on Friday.

On Thursday, Irshad Husain, the family driver of a senior banker, was targeted by unknown motorcyclists in Gulshan Block-10 near Hakeem Said Park when he was driving.

Gulshan SP Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto said that a couple of years ago the victim, a native of Parachinar, was involved with a married woman there. She was allegedly killed by her uncle there and Irshad escaped to Karachi to save his life, he added.

The officer said that the victim was being followed by the woman’s family to “redeem their honour” and on Thursday evening they allegedly murdered him.

A brother of the deceased lodged an FIR nominating the father, uncle and a cousin of the murdered woman.
