SWABI: Three brothers gunned down their sister, her husband and mother-in-law allegedly over her marriage issue in Razaar tehsil here on Thursday, said police.

The incident occurred in Sard Cheena village in Yar Hussain police station limits. Police reached the area soon after the incident and arrested one of the three suspects in injured condition. However, the other two fled after the incident.

It has been learnt that the woman had married the victim, identified as Shahanshah, of the same village without consent of her brothers and family.

Police sources said that the suspects attacked the house of Shahanshah and opened fire on all members of the family present on the occasion on Thursday morning. As a result, Shahanshah, his wife and mother were killed on the spot.

Niaz Khan, one of the three brothers, was also injured in the incident.His other two brothers were identified as Fazal Amin and Afsar Khan. The local police have registered a case against the three brothers.

BY-ELECTION: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commissioner Maqbool Ahmad was told in a briefing here on Thursday that all arrangements for by-election in PK-44, Swabi-II, had been completed.

The briefing about preparations for October 14 by-polls was given by district election commissioner Ajmal Hafeez. It was stated that training of the election staff had been completed, while security arrangements for the polling day were also underway.

Mr Ahmed also visited Government Polytechnic Institute where election material had been stored.
