LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a constable and seized a huge quantity of narcotics from his possession near Qazi Dheri Kallay in Naurang town.

Acting on a tip-off, a party of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station intercepted a car on Manjiwala-Naurang road and recovered 9,500 grams of hashish from it during search. “The contraband was concealed in a plastic bag and was being smuggled to Punjab, claimed the official.

He said the cops also seized a pistol, spare magazines, bullets, two cell phone sets and Rs100,000 cash from the car and arrested the driver identified as Mohammad Abrar of Bannu district.

“The accused is a constable in Bannu police who had his service card with him while transporting narcotics,” the official said, adding police registered a case against him and began further investigations.
