HARIPUR: The approval of two grid stations for Haripur by the federal government will address the voltage issue in rural areas of the district, said federal energy minister Omar Ayub Khan.

“Work on the 132KV grid stations in Khanpur tehsil and Sera-i-Nehmat Khan will begin soon,” he told a function in Kag village of his constituency, NA-17, here.

The minister said the project would cost the government Rs600 million.

He also said the worn-out electrical wires would be changed in Haripur to improve the power supply system.

Minister says region’s power system to be improved

Mr Omar said he would use all resources for the development of the union councils of Tanawal areas, especially Ladar Mang, Kalinjar and Beer.

He said the government was utilising all available resources to meet the people’s energy needs.

“We’re checking power theft, while power transmission system is being improved across the country to reduce line losses,” he said.

The minister said he was hopeful that the PTI government would end energy crisis once and for all in its five years term.

Former provincial minister Yousuf Ayub Khan and former Kaag nazim UC Ijaz Khan also spoke on the occasion.

ELECTIONS: The elections for Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry offices were completed here on Monday.

According to presiding officer for the 2018-19 elections Malik Abdul Wahid, all office-bearers of the industry, including members of the executive body, were elected unopposed during the general body meeting of the chamber.

Haji Attaur Rehman was elected the president, Haji Shaukat Nawaz senior vice-president and Shahbaz Majeed Sheikh vice-president, while Haji Fakhr-i-Alam, Haji Abdul Rasheed, Amjad Ali, Malik Abdul Basit, Javed Iqbal and Mohsin Shakil were elected members of the executive body from the Associate Class of the HCCI and Malik Ashiq Awan, Syed Khurram Abbas, Riaz Khattak, Fida Mohammad Khan, Safir Akhtar and Attaur Rehman from the chamber’s Corporate Class.

DOCUMENTARY: A documentary on the history of Tanoli tribe was launched here at a ceremony.

The event was largely attended by notables and Tanoli leaders from across Hazara division.

Writer and producer of the documentary Jehandad Khan Tanoli said he had conducted research on the 600 years old history of Tanoli tribe for four years.

He quoted references from the books written by British, Sikh, Hindu and Muslim historians about the rulers of Hazara region, including Mughals, Durranis, Turks, Sikhs and British to establish that Tanolis were Afghan tribesmen, who moved to Hazara in 14th century.

The producer also highlighted the customs and behaviours of Tanolis and their forefathers.

PTI MPA Nawabzada Farid Salahuddin said he would soon move a resolution in the KP Assembly seeking the creation of Tanawal district.
