GUJRANWALA, June 14: Police on Tuesday arrested the sacked Kharian tehsil nazim during a raid and the anti-corruption establishment registered a case against him. Reports said Nadeem Asghar Kaira had allegedly embezzled funds in the construction of a commercial plaza.

The police had also registered a case against him and his accomplices Naveed Zaman Kaira, Ghulam Dastgir and seven unidentified people for allegedly attacking the Kharian police station to get accused Moheyuddin Zia released from custody and manhandling SHO Ghulam Jaffar on April 14.

Earlier, the police had conducted several raids at his residence and outhouse, but could not arrest him despite registration of a case against him under the Anti-terrorism Act.

On Tuesday, he attended the court to get his bail confirmed when the police arrested him.
