Assets and income

Published September 24, 2018

IT is a common practice in our country that most people do not disclose their sources of income in full when they file income declarations or tax returns. The reasons are multiple. One of them is that people do not trust on government institutions.

This reason is justifiable as institutions like the Federal Bureau of Revenue are not user-friendly. A person registered with the FBR has to face difficulties. Officers and officials blackmail them and make demands.

We have to strengthen our systems so that the people have confidence in our institutions and they disclose their actual wealth in their returns. It is only after strengthening of the tax system that people who hide their wealth should be punished according to law.
