MITHI, June 13: Activists of different political and social organizations took out a procession in support of those employees of the Tharparkar district council who have been observing hunger strike outside the press club for the last three weeks in protest against sending of 106 council employees in the surplus pool.

Workers of the Awami Tehrik, Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, All-Pakistan Clerks Association, Primary Teachers Association and Government Secondary Teachers Association marched from the press club to the DCO office.

Speaking on the occasion, APCA Tharparkar president Ghulam Hussain Khamisani said the low grade employees of the district council had been observing hunger strike for the last three weeks but the relevant quarters had not paid heed to their genuine demands.

GSTA Tharparkar president Arbab Zulfiqar Ali, Allah Dino Samtio, Ghulam Rasool Junejo and Devji spoke on the occasion.

They demanded the government should readjust 106 employees of the district council at vacant posts in other councils.
