OKARA: A woman was allegedly poisoned by her in-laws at village 1/4L 3.

Reports said Muhammad Arif of Matanwala near Haveli Lakha had married his daughter Saba Bibi off to Imran of village 1/4L three years ago.

On Sept 18, Arif visited village 1/4L to see his daughter and learnt that she was admitted to Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. He rushed to the hospital and came to know that Saba, a mother of one, had died.

He got a case registered under sections 302 and 34 of PPC against her husband Imran and mother-in-law Shama on the suspicion of poisoning her.

This was stated by Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas while chairing a meeting held in connection with Muharram.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Nazir, DPO Zeeshan Asghar, representatives of various religious sects and other officials.

The DPO briefed the participants about security arrangements. The meeting was told that 176 processions and 639 majalis would be held in the district.

The DPO said 171 CCTV cameras, including 92 in Okara, 36 Renala Khurd and 43 in Depalpur, were installed. The control room had been set up at the DC office.
