Imran’s security

Published September 20, 2018

IT is a matter of great concern that our prime minister is not being provided the kind of security he deserves. Needless to say that security cannot be sacrificed at the altar of austerity.

Let me recount when lax and unprofessional security arrangements resulted in a catastrophe. Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan fell to an assassin’s bullet because adequate security was not provided to him.

Abraham Lincoln was shot while he was watching a play in a theatre. Only one guard was provided to ensure his security. Just before the assassination, the guard left him unguarded. The assassin shot him in the head from behind, only a yard or two away.

John F. Kennedy was being escorted in an open top convertible Lincoln Continental car. The assassin’s bullet hit the president in his head from a nearby building. This was the most ridiculous way to provide security to a president.

I will implore the security set-up to chalk out a comprehensive security plan to provide sound, trustworthy and foolproof security to the prime minister.

I am sure they have the wherewithal of such necessity.
