KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued the final list of candidates contesting the by-polls on NA-243 and PS-87 from Karachi.

The polling will be held on Oct 14.

According to the election commission, 22 candidates are in the fray for the seat vacated by Prime Minister Imran Khan. They include Aamiruddin Qureshi of the MQM-P, Alamgir Khan of the PTI, Asif Hasnain of the PSP and Dr Syed Nawaz-ul-Huda. All the 22 candidates have been allotted election symbols.

For PS-87 Malir, 26 candidates are in the field. They are: Sajid Jokhio of PPP, Qadir Bux Khan Gabol of PTI, Hamdullah of MMA, Abdul Khalil Brohi of PML-N, Khalida Attyeb of MQM-P, Qurban Ali of TLP, Mohammad Saleem of PSP, Wali-ur-Rehman of GDA, Saeqa Noor of ANP etc.

The ECP also announced that the by-election on NA-247, the seat vacated by President Arif Alvi, will be held on Oct 21.

For this constituency, 18 candidates have filed their nomination papers which scrutiny will be completed by Sept 19 while appeals against the acceptance or rejection of the nomination can be filed by Sept 25 which will be decided by Sept 28.

The revised list of candidates will be displayed on Sept 29 while the candidates can withdraw from the contest by Sept 30 followed by the display of the final list of candidates and allotment of election symbols on Oct 1.
