RAWALPINDI: Security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan on Thursday and killed four militants, including operational-level terrorist Aftab Parakay.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations here, the militants killed were involved in an attack on security forces on Sept 12 as well as ambush on a security forces’ convoy in December last year, which resulted in martyrdom of Lieutenant Moeen.

It said the militants were fully armed and they gave tough resistance to security personnel.

In the exchange of fire three soldiers — Naib Subedar Nazir Ahmed Chandio, Sepoy Fakhar and Sepoy Amir — of the Pakistan Army were martyred. It said the area had been cleared.
