Abdullah, Zoha, and Apsara triumph in Open tennis

KARACHI: Brilliant Abdullah Adnan of Lahore shocked prolific Hasheesh Kumar in the under-18 quarter-finals here on Wednesday while Zoha Asim and Apsara Shiraz cruised past their opponents in the second round of the girls under-18 event at the 7th Essa Lab open National Tennis Championship here at the DA Creek Club on Wednesday.

In the under-16 semifinal, Abdullah got the better of Hasheesh in straight sets. The finals and the closing ceremony of the tournament will be held on Friday at 4-30pm. Nadeem Ahmed of Brooks Pharmaceutictal will be the chief guest.

U-12 Singles (2nd Round) Abdullah Imran bt Danial Kothawala 8-6

Girls under-18 (2nd round): Zoha Asim bt Mariyum Shahid 6-0-6-0; Apsara Shiraz bt Tehreem Yousuf 6-0, 6-1

Soft Tennis Mens Doubles (1st Round): Noor-e-Mustafa+Sahibzada Mubin bt Saad Ahmed+Hasnian 5-1

Soft Tennis Mens Single (semi-final): Eibad Sarwar bt M Ali 10-8; Robin Das bt Noor-e- Mustafa 5-3

35-plus singles (2nd round): Aftab Hussain bt Mustafa 8-3

Under-8 Singles (semifinal Lariab Shamsi bt Eshal 10-7,10-3; Nael Mirza bt Hadi Mehmood 10-4, 10-3.

U-18 Single (quarter-finals): Abdullah Adnan (LHR) bt Hasheesh Kumar 6-2, 6-3; Ahmed Kamil bt Parbat Kumar 6-3, 6-3.
