Rising street crime

Published September 11, 2018

APROPOS the letter ‘The police bullet’ (Sept 9). There has been an alarming rise in street crime in recent weeks despite the introduction of a special force to combat it. The mayor’s car was snatched at gunpoint in a Defence market on Sept 8. My own family was robbed twice this week.

Each day, hundreds of Karachiites are deprived of their purses, wallets, cell phones and jewellery at gunpoint. For no fault of theirs, besides losing valuables, they are relieved of credit cards, driving licences and identity cards. The new government is requested to curb street crime.
