MITHI: Two women committed suicide in separate incidents in Tharparkar district on Monday.
Reshma Kolhi, 22, took the extreme action in her house located in Sabosan village near Nagarparkar town by strangulating herself with a rope. She could not buy essentially needed footwear due to abject poverty, her husband, Wagho Kolhi, said.
In Napelo village, near Dahil town, a 27-year-old woman, Samina Rahimoon, committed suicide by using the same method.
Her relatives said she gave in to starvation as the family had nothing to eat for several days.

Tharis must not have heard Bilawal Zardari's much vaunted speech in Parliament.
PPP needs to play the speech ad nauseum in the blighted Thar to alleviate their miseries.

Very tormenting news. It is very painful to visualize that these poor and miserable people whose more than 800 children died due to malnutrition in the last few years, being in perpetual state of suffering due to abject poverty, are citizen of Pakistan. Why on earth the provincial government is not making any effort to alleviate the suffering of its subjects? I hope that there would be no further suicides and the civil society will raise their voices to make those responsible to act and rescue these unfortunate people from the clutches of hunger, disease and misery in near future.

More attention needs to be given to this deprived area. Charity organisations need to make a joint plan with the government to deal with poverty and health issues in the region. PPPP government should be asked questions about the ongoing situation in Thar. So sad!

If provincial government is not performing her duties. Why federal government is not announcing any thar package?
Thar is rich resources and government should invest some part of it in human development.

Unfortunately, the people (Hindus and Muslims)
of these areas are staunch supporters of
corrupt PPP for decades.
And the result?
