QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has taken notice of delay and substandard work in the construction of Quetta Water Supply and Environmental Improvement Project (QWSEIP), carried out by the National Construction Limited.

The NCL, despite receiving major amount of the project, did not complete the scheme.

“The revised cost of the QWSEIP was Rs10 billion and the Balochistan government released about Rs9 billion to the NCL, but the company did not complete the project despite receiving the major amount,” Public Health Engineering Department Secretary Zahid Saleem told the Director General of NAB,

Balochistan, Mirza Mohammad Irfan Baig, during a briefing held on Saturday to review the pace of work on QWSEIP and Mangi dam projects.

The DG was informed that the NCL laid down pipelines (1,505km) for distribution of water, but there was no map or drawing and other relevant record available of the projects.

While expressing dissatisfaction over inordinate delay and standard of work in the water project, the NAB director general said that those responsible would be dealt with sternly.

He issued directives to call NCL authorities along with relevant record to ascertain who had caused the loss to the national exchequer by delaying this vital project.
