RAWALPINDI: The city police have categorised 316 Muharram processions and 1,765 majalis as A (most sensitive), B (sensitive) and C (normal) and planned to deploy extra police including sharpshooters in trouble areas.

The categorisation has been made on the basis of number of participants and keeping in view the previous history of the processions and majalis.

SHOs concerned will survey procession routes in advance and give clearance after ensuring that police personnel are properly deployed on routes and rooftops of surrounding buildings.

The police will also ensure that procession does not deviate from the designated route and timings of the processions are adhered.

Of the 1,765 majalis, 209 have been categorised as A, 355 as B and 1,201 as C. Of 316 processions, 41 have been categorised as A, 63 processions as B less and 212 as C.

In case of any sectarian clash, immediate action will be taken to pacify the situation.
