LARKANA, June 11: A widow Maryam Tunio, 55, was admitted to the Chandka Medical College Hospital on Saturday in injured condition with her head shaved near Qambar late on Friday. The incident took place as a result of a dispute over a piece of land.

The victim, resident of village ‘Thorhi Bijar’ in the jurisdiction of Drigh police station, was kidnapped while waiting to fetch a bus for Qambar and was taken to an unknown place.

The alleged kidnappers threw her on the road after severe torture with her head shaved and face blackened.

On her complaint police registered an FIR against Ali Hassan Tunio a teacher, Hannan, Nooral Tunio and others.

It was learnt that the victim’s family had secured seven acres of government land on lease, which had irked the neighbours.

Those nominated in the FIR had issued threats to the aggrieved family to withdraw their claim over the land, the sources said. But they had turned down their demand.

After lodging of the FIR, police conducted raids but in vain. The old lady was admitted to the CMC hospital.
