RAWALPINDI: A trader was shot and injured during a robbery on Monday.
Mirza Anser was on his way from Dhoke Hassu to the Sabzi Mandi when three unidentified robbers intercepted him and held him at gunpoint.
The gunmen took Rs30,000 from him along with his bag. They shot him before fleeing.
The victim was moved to the hospital and when his relatives got to know of the matter, they gathered outside the Ratta Amral police station, along with other residents of the area, at about 4pm and staged a protest against the police for failing to keep a check on crimes.
The protestors shouted slogans against the police and demanded that the Punjab chief minister direct the police to arrest the culprits and recover the looted cash.
Senior police officers assured them the robbers will be arrested soon and that the looted money will be recovered after which the protestors dispersed peacefully at about 5pm.
