Flouting SC orders

Published September 2, 2018

THIS refers to the Chief Justice of Pakistan order to cellular companies not to deduct tax on every mobile phone top-up cards.

My cellular service provider has not given any relief to its users on ‘super cards’ after the Supreme Court ruled out government taxes on pre-paid calling cards.

For instance, previously on a recharge of Rs520 worth of super card, we would get Rs462 free minutes and data. It means Rs58 were being deducted on account of different taxes. A confirmatory message was also sent by the service provider.

After the SC ruling the Rs58 is being pocketed by the cellular company and the relief is not being passed on to the public unlike regular credit uploads (card recharges) where the amount is being credited to users account as paid (Rs100 being credited on a Rs100 re-charge).

I request the chief justice to intervene and stop these corporations pocketing customers’ money.
