KHAR: Teachers of government schools in Bajaur tribal district on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the killing of two female teachers and asked the government for an exemplary punishment to the assailant.

The demonstration was arranged by different teachers associations outside the Bajaur Press Club which was attended by the associations’ leaders and teachers of various government schools in large numbers.

Holding placards inscribed with demand for execution of the killer and protection of female teachers they chanted slogans against the local administration for its failure to provide security to the teachers. The protest continued for over two hours.

Leaders of teachers associations, including Gul Saeed, Khial Mohammad and Asmatullah Khan, addressed the participants and condemned the killing of their two colleagues. They alleged that the assailant was a government employee and was ex-husband of one of the victims. They said that the incident had created fear among the women teachers of the region.

According to the local administration, the assailant and his accomplice had been arrested and sent to a local prison.
