Mother of three seeks protection

LARKANA, June 10: A mother of three children has expressed apprehensions that she may be killed by her husband and father-in-law and has approached the DPO to seek protection.

Sajida Samo appeared before DPO Dr Saeen Rakhiyo Mirani here on Friday and, narrating her story, said that her husband and father-in-law were torturing her and also issuing threats of dire consequences.

She pleaded to the DPO to provide her with security. Heeding her plea, the DPO sent her to the women police station, with instructions to refer her to Darul Aman.

She told journalists that in the past, she had lodged an FIR against her father-in-law for harassing her and, consequently, he was jailed for five year. He was recently released from prison, and was again harassing her, she added.

The Darul Aman in charge, when contacted, told this correspondent that Sajida had not been referred to the institution yet.

FAINTED: Nine members of a family, including children, fell unconscious after consuming rice in Mengho Khan Chandio village on the outskirts of Qambar town on Friday.

Ali Gul Chandio, Allah Wadhayo, Sajjan, Zameeran, Baby Shado, Sartaj, Siyani, Hajani and Deedar Chandio were provided the doubtful food from a nearby village.

On falling unconscious, they were immediately taken to the Qambar hospital, where they were provided first aid and discharged.
