GUJRANWALA: Several Civil Defense employees demonstrated outside the deputy commissioner office on Monday against the accounts officer for nonpayment of their wages of Ramazan bazaar duties.

Group Warden Mirza Muhammad Aslam with post wardens Sabir Hussain, Sajid Ali Bhatti and Talib Hussain told reporters that 105 employees were deployed at bazaars for security in Gujranwala district and each was to be paid Rs18,000.

They alleged that the deputy commissioner approved their wages but the accounts officer had withheld the money after they refused to pay the office bribe.

They demanded that the deputy commissioner take notice of the situation.

GUARD: A security guard of the Gujranwala District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital stripped naked two alleged pickpockets and beat them.

The guard took Usman and Munir to the hospital lawns from the Outpatient Department of the DHQ Hospital where he beat them. Usman and Munir denied the charge and said they had come for treatment.
