MARDAN: The police claimed to have arrested here the other day two suspects over the recent rape and strangling of a minor girl in Fatu Kaly Sangao area.

District police officer retired captain Wahid Mehmood told reporters here that Mufti Habibur Rehman had formally complained to the Takhtbai police on August 7 about the mysterious disappearance of his five-year-old daughter.

He said the girl’s body was found next morning from the fields near her house.

The DPO said a police team collected blood samples from 426 local residents and sent them to laboratory for DNA test, while 23 suspects were interrogated. He said the interrogation found girl’s step-brother Khan Mohammad and Nasrullah to be involved in the crime.

The DPO said the postmortem and DNA test reports confirmed that the girl was raped.
