MITHI, June 8: Employees of the district council, Tharparkar, continued their hunger strike here on Wednesday for the 21st consecutive day outside the local press club. They were demanding salary to 106 employees, withheld for the last three months. These employees had been sent to the surplus pool by the district council.

Talking to newsmen, they said that they were surprised as to how they had been sent to the surplus pool despite rendering services to the district council, Tharparkar, for the last many years.

They said that their families were facing starvation due to non-payment of salary.

No action was taken by the council to adjust us against the vacant posts while fresh appointments were being made, they alleged.

They urged the chief minister to intervene in the matter and help release their salary.
