ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has expressed concern over the government’s decision to withdraw security of former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, terming it a “criminal act”.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the PPP chairman asked the caretaker government to clarify as to whom it intended to facilitate by withdrawing security of the former prime minister and whether the government didn’t know that Mr Gilani’s family had been under threat from terrorists.

Mr Bhutto-Zardari reminded that Ali Haider Gilani, son of Mr Gilani, and Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer, were taken hostage due to such criminal negligence in the past.

He demanded that security of Yousuf Raza Gilani and entire political leadership of the country be ensured without any delinquency.
