QUETTA: BNP-M president Akhtar Mengal left for Islamabad on Sunday to take oath as a member of the National Assembly on Monday.

He has retained his National Assembly seat and resigned from the Balochistan Assembly seat.

It will be his first experience to enter the National Assembly. The Balochistan National Party-Mengal has four NA seats.

Mr Mengal was elected on both seats from Khuzdar.

His party had signed a six-point agreement with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) last week in Quetta. It will support the PTI in the election for the slot of prime minister, NA speaker and deputy speaker.

Mr Mengal had been elected as a member of the Balochistan Assembly for five times. In 1997, he was elected chief minister of Balochistan with the support of the Jamhoori Watan Party.
