Juventus wallop FC Tokyo

TOKYO, June 7: David Trezeguet scored twice as Italian champions Juventus beat FC Tokyo 4-1 on Tuesday in the second of two close-season games in Japan. The J-League club outplayed Juventus in the first half and went in front after just 10 minutes when striker Mitsuhiro Toda superbly glanced home a Masashi Miyazawa cross.

Toda almost scored a carbon copy goal moments later and forward Yusuke Kondo was unlucky not to double the home side’s lead when he hit the post just before halftime.

Juventus equalised seven minutes into the second half when France striker Trezeguet pounced after Pavel Nedved’s shot was spilled by goalkeeper Hitoshi Shiota.

The Turin team went ahead after 74 minutes through substitute Giuseppe Sculli and captain Alessandro Del Piero volleyed home a third two minutes later.

Trezeguet blasted home his second of the game in the 82nd minute to give the scoreline a flattering look.

Juventus, who clinched their 28th Serie A title last month, beat J-League champions Yokohama F-Marinos 1-0 last Wednesday.
