THOUGH there is still time to Eidul Azha, the activity of buying sacrificial animals is in full swing. With this, crime has increased. Recently in Karachi, two robbers broke into a house, stole two goats and escaped.
There have been such incidents in the past as well. Last year in Karachi, 15 to 20 armed men stole animals from a farmhouse, while another robbery occurred in Lahore. A man who was going to buy a sacrificial animal was allegedly accosted by a robber when he refused to give him an amount of nearly Rs0.2 million, and the robber killed him on the spot.
This year, the price of animals ranges from Rs30,000 to Rs600,000. Animal sellers are charging heavy prices. The authorities concerned should look into the matter.
