MULTAN: A team of Shah Rukn-i-Alam police on Wednesday left for Lahore along with a law student and one of her class fellows who is alleged to have raped her to obtain their DNA samples from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA).

The mother of the girl alleged that her daughter was raped by five people including one of her class fellows and an assistant sub-inspector after intoxicating her.

In her application to police, the resident of Shah Rukn-i-Alam Colony stated that she had her 22-year-old daughter (a law student at a private university) examined from doctors due to her deteriorating health and learnt that the girl used drugs. She said she had her daughter admitted to a rehabilitation centre for treatment.

She stated that on July 14, her daughter told her that a class fellow would give her heroin whenever she underwent depression and raped her many times. She alleged that on the morning of June 19, the suspect called her daughter and asked her for a meeting.

The woman alleged that the suspect took her daughter somewhere and four people were already present there and one of them introduced himself as ASI Jam Tariq and claimed that he was posted at the police data centre.

She stated that the ASI told her daughter that he was the one who provided heroin to her class fellow.

On July 28, Shah Rukn-i-Alam police lodged an FIR No 306/18 under Section 376ii of Pakistan Penal Code and started investigation. The prime suspect got bail the very next day.

Meanwhile, police on Wednesday arrested ASI Jam Tariq.

A team of Shah Rukn-i-Alam police left for Lahore with the victim and the suspect to obtain their DNA samples.
