ISLAMABAD: Shade cloth has been installed around the residence of PTI chief Imran Khan so it is protected from onlookers in the mountains, hill tops and the jungle.

The Prime Minister’s Office is likely to be filled in a fortnight by Imran Khan before which he will be using his personal residence at Banigala.

Because he is considered the prime minister in waiting, security around him and his residence has been tightened as per the VVIP standard, police and administration officials said. Necessary instructions were issued from the office of the Islamabad deputy commissioner in accordance to the recommendations made by the Security Wing of the capital police after conducting a survey of the Banigala residence and its adjacent areas.

The chiefs of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) were also asked to strengthen security measures around Imran Khan’s residence immediately.

“The National Counter-Terrorism Authority has issued at least four security alerts for Imran Khan since the election,” an official said.

The CDA and MCI chiefs were also asked to install the shade cloth around the lawns of Imran Khan’s house so that those sitting in the laws cannot be seen from people in the jungle, mountains and hilltops. Search lights may be installed around the boundary wall of the house for security purposes as well.

Parking arrangements on already identified sites and other necessary arrangements may also be made. An ambulance will be deployed at a suitable place as well as a fire tender.

A senior official said CDA and MCI officials visited the area along with officials of security agencies to see where search lights will be installed.
