MIRPURKHAS, June 5: Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Mohammad Abdul Hannan, and vice-chancellor of the Sindh Agriculture University, Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh, inaugurated the three-day 40th National Mango and Summer Fruits Festival, 2005, at the Gama Stadium here on Sunday. They visited various stalls and took keen interest in about 125 varieties of mango as well as other fruits on display there.

Some 402 farmers and gardeners from Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Badin and Ghotki districts participated in the competition.

Various stalls of poultry development, animal husbandry, water management department, Sindh horticulture research institute, Mirpurkhas, Fauji Fertilizers advisory centre, United Bank, Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority, and Fatima Jinnah School, Mirpurkhas, were set up in the festival.
