GUJRANWALA: Deputy Commissioner/District Monitoring Officer Dr. Shoiab Tariq Warriach got cases registered against as many as 105 candidates and imposed fine worth Rs2.7 million collectively on 27 of them on violation of election code of conduct from June 30 to July 23.

A monitoring officer said on Monday about 30,600 banners, flexes and posters had been removed while notices were issued to 230 candidates. He said 105 candidates were booked on serious allegations and for not appearing before monitoring teams despite issuance of notices.

DEMO: Residents of Kot Ishaq Ladeywala Warriach on Monday staged a demonstration on Hafizabad Road outside the office of municipal committee against non-provision of drinking water for the last four days.

They chanted slogan against the municipal committee chairman and councillors and demanded that water supply motor be rectified immediately.
