ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has requested the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to fix the case of alleged misuse of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s helicopter by PTI chairman Imran Khan after the general elections.

In a letter to the anti-corruption watchdog, the PTI said it is difficult for Mr Khan to appear before it on Wednesday because he is busy in his party’s election campaign.

According to a NAB notice, the PTI chief is supposed to appear before the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of NAB on July 18 for allegedly misusing a helicopter of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for his private visits.

In response to the NAB notice, Imran Khan’s lawyer Babar Awan has requested NAB to fix the case for Aug 8, if it feels appropriate.

In a statement, the PTI welcomed NAB’s investigation into alleged misuse of helicopter and stated that it always supports fair investigations.

The KP government had earlier stated that Imran Khan had never used any official helicopter for his private or personal use.

In February this year, a KP government spokesman had said that since 2013 the government had not used helicopters for any purpose other than official business.
