KARACHI, June 3: Brilliant double by Adeel Hussain in the first-half helped Sindh thrash Balochistan 5-0 on the opening day of the Inter-provincial under-17 hockey championship at Hockey Club of Pakistan on Thursday. Sindh played attacking game right from the outset and managed to gain a 3-0 lead towards the end of the first-half.
Adeel struck in the 12th and the 26th minutes while Asif Aslam netted the ball in the 30th minute. Rizwan Ali Khan and Mohsin Zafar scored one each in the 40th and the 47th minute to seal a 5-0 victory for Sindh.
In another match, a fine hat trick by defender Sohail Iqbal led NWFP to bury Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 9-0.
Sohail gave winners an early lead through a drag flick in the first penalty corner his team got in the 5th minute. He then followed it up with his second in the 29th and the third in the 49th minute.
The winners enjoyed a 4-0 lead at the end of the first-half. They continued their fine run in the second half keeping the ball in their possession most of the time.
The winners slammed five more goals in the second half to clinch the game 9-0.
Fawad Ahmed struck home two while Laiqullah, Ismail, Muhammed Waqas and Aijaz Ahmed slammed one each for the winners.—PPI
